Michael Imperioli Says “There’s a Bit of Jealousy” Over Albie’s ‘White Lotus’ Romance with Lucia

There’s a new romance blossoming between Lucia (Simona Tabasco) and Albie (Adam DiMarco) in The White Lotus Season 2 and not everyone is happy about it. Albie’s dad Dominic (Michael Imperioli) is furious about it. When Dom sees his son cavorting with the same escort he paid for sex earlier in the week, he understandably panics. He does all he can to warn Albie about Lucia short of explicitly revealing that he himself slept with her. His warnings to both parties are for nought as the two lovebirds only get closer by the end of The White Lotus Season 2 Episode 5 on HBO. Albie is not only unbothered by his new girl’s line of work, but has seemingly managed to woo her.

Albie and Lucia might be happy with their arrangement, but The White Lotus keeps hinting that this new relationship is doomed. Not only does Albie run afoul of a guy he believes in Lucia’s pimp, but we know for a fact that multiple guests will wind up dead by the end of the week. Even if Albie survives the week, there’s still the implication that he might be more like his father than he wants to be. Albie has already confessed to Portia (Haley Lu Richardson) that he just doesn’t want to be like his dad. Could hooking up with Lucia be dooming him in a more spiritual way? And what does his father think of this?

Decider asked Michael Imperioli if Dominic’s panic was more about the possibility that Albie would learn about Dom’s own tryst with Lucia or if Dom is worried his son is following in his footsteps.

“I think it’s definitely the latter,” Imperioli said. “The cat was kind of already out of the bag in a way in general about Dom’s behavior. I think he’s also worried ‘cause he thinks Albee’s an innocent and is more apt to be either taken advantage of or get his heart broken.”

“You know, he’s still a dad and he’s a kid and he’s looking at him more as a kid and not as a man in some ways.”

That said, Imperioli revealed there is a part of Dom looking at Albie as a “man” in this situation and he’s jealous of his son.

“To be honest and for me, I played it this way: there’s a little bit of jealousy,” Imperioli said. “Because for whatever it’s worth, he certainly compartmentalized this as a transactional thing between a client and a professional, but there’s still, you know, it’s sex. And I think there’s a bit of jealousy to be honest.”

Could jealousy lead to murder? There’s only two episodes of The White Lotus Season 2 left and we’re going to have to figure out at some point how multiple guests die at the lavish resort…
