Last night on HBO‘s Real Time with Bill Maher, Michael Moore shared his optimism about the midterm elections despite what many political pundits have been saying.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker is predicting a massive voter turnout for the upcoming midterm elections in favor of the Democrats from Americans who are looking to save democracy.
Moore, who was Maher‘s top of the hour guest, reminded viewers that he predicted on the HBO talk show that Donald Trump would win the 2016 election. He said that at the time he felt he had a “good sense about what was going to happen” living in the midwest.
“I think the opposite is going to happen this time,” he said. “I think there’s going to be such a landslide against the traitors, especially the 147 Republicans who just hours after the insurrection voted to not certify the elected president of the United States, Joe Biden, and I think there is going to be so many people coming out to vote.”
He thanked the Supreme Court for “reminding women that they are, in fact, second-class citizens” referring to their decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The filmmaker also reminded viewers that Kansas, a red state, voted earlier this year in favor of the right to choose to have an abortion.
“I think there’s going to be a massive turnout of women,” he added citing the number of women who had registered to vote, some for the first time, in Kansas.
Moore was confident that citizens would step up to vote out the “Republican traitors in November” adding yet bolder predictions saying, “We are going to get two to five new Democratic senators after this election. I believe we’re going to keep the House, I think the pundits are all wrong.”
“I think there’s a real revolution, a non-violent revolution going on in favor of democracy — people don’t want to lose it,” he concluded.

Later during his “New Rule” segment of the show, Maher further criticized Republicans for what he called “disrespect” towards America.
“Republicans: I’ll start with you, because I really want to know, what do you like about America? It’s not democracy,” Maher said. “You stand with a president who tried to pull a coup. And a dozen Republican nominees for Senate and governor in this year’s mid terms say they absolutely will not commit to accepting the results.”
“Elections only count when we win them? That’s what America is to you now? That shows more disrespect for the flag than any football player ever could,” he added.
