In a discussion of Republican candidates hosted by WOODTV8 in Michigan, Kelly did not express his regrets about his visit to Washington on January 6.
"It was a good time on January 6, 2021, when gas was less than $ 2 a gallon," Kelly said when the moderator asked about the riot.
"I was in Washington, DC on January 6th," Kelly continued. "Yes, the FBI raided my house in front of my wife, in front of my children, and did this big theater show for insults, and they went to the Witch on January 6th. It was the same day I started the hunting committee, but it was the first amendment by the majority of people, including myself. How did that happen as a result of the 2020 elections? And we have the right to that first amendment, and that's 99% of the people there that day, and yes, I support President Trump. "
Kelly also rehashed various election plots during the debate and told voters that he still believed that Joe Byden's election in Michigan, which had won more than 154,000 votes, had been stolen.
"Yes, the 2020 election in Michigan was fraudulent and stolen by President Trump," Kelly said.
Kelly is one of the few Republicans fighting against Governor Gretchen Whitmer of the Democratic Party of Michigan this fall.
Kelly, arrested last month for contempt, will file an innocent petition Thursday morning.
