Asylum seekers have traveled outside Texas for a long time after arriving in the United States. But Abbott says he is now sending immigrants more than 2,000 miles away to protest President Biden's immigration policies. 

"We're full in Texas. Our community is out of control," Abbott said earlier this month. 

Critics have called it a political stunt in which immigrant families are caught in a dilemma. A lawyer who helps immigrants told CBS News that not everyone wants to go to New York.
