A distraught mother was on a flight from Cyprus to the UK when an apparently drunk and deranged passenger tried to open the plane door. says he thought he was going to die.
This "terrifying" aerial drama took place on board Tui Airways on Tuesday during the five-hour journey.
"He [the combatant passenger] was trying to open the emergency exit door to get off the plane," 32-year-old Melissa Browntold Kennedy Her News. "Everyone started screaming, 'Help us, we are going to die!' Brown, who was vacationing with her, noticed an "aggressive" man on the plane constantly walking around on her way home to Manchester, England. "He was destructive and very upsetting and frightening people," said Brown. "My daughter was really agitated and upset when she found out he was drunk. Definitely he was shaken."
The mother said a flight attendant approached her and said she was ``having trouble'' with the man, claiming he was threatening them. I jumped up near the fire exit in the middle of the room and started giving hand signals to everyone and praying out loud in a different language," Brown claimed.
"He said in English, 'Everybody needs to start praying. See you in heaven,'" she recalled.
Brown said other passengers started screaming, grabbed children and ran to the back of the plane.
Meanwhile, a group of male travelers attempted to overwhelm the madman, one hitting him in the back of the head and several others trying to restrain him.
His two men, off-duty police officers, managed to bar him in his seat until the pilot was able to initiate an emergency landing.
"The pilots descended very quickly to the Croatian airport. We were literally falling out of the sky," Brown said. "It was really traumatic."
The man's name was Not published by Croatian or English. media. It is unclear whether police have filed charges in the air crash.

Brown said she and her fellow Thuy passengers were stranded in an empty airport after a sudden landing in the middle of the night.
"When we got off the plane, we were taken to the airport and left there. There was no Tui representative and the airport was closed," Brown said of her complained. "For seven hours, passengers and children slept on towels on the cold floor of the airport because no one helped them."
Several other passengers took to Twitter to moan about the situation.
Meanwhile, Ms. Brown said she was grateful that she and her family were safe, but that the ordeal left her traumatized.
