The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been giving sound advice for months as monkeypox swept through the United States. Journal Lancet about an Italian greyhound infected with a virus.

This dog belongs to a couple who say they sleep with animals. Two men contracted monkeypox after having sex with other partners, causing lesions and other symptoms.Greyhound later developed lesions and was diagnosed with the virus.

Monkeypox infections have been detected in rodents and other wild animals, and the virus can infect humans. However, the authors call it the first report of monkeypox infection in a domesticated animal such as a dog or cat. The CDC advises that it should be kept at home and away from other animals and people for 21 days after contact with it.
