NATO makes a bold move to make the right call to Sweden and Finland

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles.

What a loss for Russian President Vladimir Putin! Finland and Sweden have stripped decades of neutral nations to join NATO, and allies, including Turkey, said so.

Pause for a moment to see what amazing changes this is for Finland and Sweden. Both have been NATO's close partners for many years, training and even deploying troops in line with NATO's mission, but both countries made U-turns in foreign policy. Sweden has not joined the alliance or fought in war since 1814. You are reading that right. Citizens of Finland and Sweden did not want to join NATO six months ago, but now they do.

Due to Putin's invasion and the reality of modern warfare, Finland and Sweden were urgently required to become full members of NATO. In this era of cyber attacks and Russian aerial and missile attacks, deterrence must be implemented from the beginning. Severe discussions, information leaks and the threat of sanctions did not stop Putin from invading Ukraine.  Only a true alliance can guarantee security.

This is a good step for NATO. Finland has added another 830 miles of borders, breaking NATO's barriers to Russia, from Istanbul to the Arctic and beyond. Finland, pop. 5.5 million bring a prestigious air force, an army that expands to up to 900,000, and Europe's largest artillery reserve. It means that there is more ammunition than pine trees. Remember that they are the world leaders in communication technology.

Sweden was officially neutral in World War I and World War II, maintained its defenses, and maintained its nonalignment during the Cold War. However, they have long been a power in the defense industry, and the Swedish army has professional experience in the Arctic and submarine territories. They are building new fighters from the successful Gripen series and deploying more submarines. Sweden strengthened its strategic island of Gotland earlier this year, allocating more money to military infrastructure and naval operations.

Finland and Sweden are afraid of Russia, so don't think for a moment that you have asked for NATO membership. No, they lived in the neighborhood for a long time. And, of course, Finland won a moral victory over the Russians of the Soviet Union in the 1939 Winter War. In fact, they invented the Morotov cocktail (a temporary petrol bottle bomb thrown into a tank) during the war.

Putin, his illegal aggression,, and his, like aerial and missile strikes launched against 40 targets in Ukraine in June. I think it's more accurate to say that you're tired of atrocities. 26. Harassment of Russia's military flight in Swedish airspace was useless. What is the point of non-alignment when there are thugs like Putin in other camps?

Finland, Sweden and NATO have sent a message to Putin. Good people are adding teammates. The same message goes to China and supports Russia.

For Turkey (which recently changed the spelling of the country to Turkiye), this is a good time to get military cooperation back on track. Finland and Sweden will be credited for signing a trilateral agreement with Turkey to allow unanimous NATO approval. As a result, Turkey wants to buy an F-35 fighter and return to line to return the pilot to F-35 joint training. As General Dwight Eisenhower knew when NATO was formed, Turkey is a breakwater on the south side of NATO, with or without fraud.

Why. Two words: Bosphorus Strait.

Turkey manages all NATO access from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea through this important waterway, which is an important point narrower than the Hudson River around Manhattan. For example, if NATO wants to break Russia's blockade of the Black Sea in Ukraine's grain port, the warship must pass through the Bosphorus.

Finally, the choice between Finland and Sweden is that the prosperous NATO is Putin's ruthless The myth of justifying action needs to be rested. It's hard to blame NATO for accepting new members for Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Most new member states joined NATO when Russia was actually part of the Group of Seven and renamed it G8 between 1997 and 2014. This was a time when NATO leaders treated Russia as a normal European power and did their best to support Putin's choice. Prosperity instead of looting. Tired of Washington analysts talking about how Putin "feels" when NATO grows. The atrocities committed by Russian troops in Bucha and elsewhere should have evaporated that sentiment.
