Odell Beckham Jr. ‘confused’ about reports he wants $20 million a year

Odell Beckham Jr. is perplexed.

A week after a report from ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio said that the free agent wideout wants a deal worth $20 million annually, Beckham denied this to be the case.

“I’m just so confused where the quote is from me tht (sic) said I want 20,” Beckham tweeted with crying and eye-roll emojis. “All I’m sayin is 4 AINT enough.”

During last season, in which Beckham, 30, ultimately went unsigned, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that “league sources are predicting that his eventual compensation package could be similar on a prorated basis” to receivers such as Chris Godwin and Mike Williams, who make $20 million a year.

It’s possible Beckham’s agent has been asking teams for a contract worth $20 million per year, but that this wasn’t something he ever said directly.

Regardless, the wideout clearly hasn’t been satisfied with what has been offered.

“They wanna try Mouton but pay box wine price for it,” Beckham tweeted with several crying emojis on Thursday, referring to the difference between wine that sells for thousands of dollars in vintage form versus a commodity product.

After forcing his way out of Cleveland due to apparent differences with quarterback Baker Mayfield — Beckham’s dad even distributed video of the quarterback not connecting with his wide-open son — Beckham was a model citizen and key contributor in the Rams’ Super Bowl run.

According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Beckham was marked on a “wish list” of players that Aaron Rodgers would like the Jets to sign, which also included wideouts Allen Lazard (whom the Jets have since signed) and Randall Cobb and tight end Marcedes Lewis.

A Rodgers trade to the Jets has not been finalized, but it remains an expectation.
