After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Giuliani, hailed as a hero for hiscalm leadership, became the target of criminal investigations seeking to overturn the will of Georgia. I found out this week that it is. He is a voter in the 2020 presidential election.

He has become a caricature of himself, but it is only Giuliani, not the comedians who make fun of him, who turn his life into a tragicomedy.

History is filled with tragic figures (mostly men) who squandered power, fame and reputation. There was Aaron Burr, Benedict Arnold (whose name itself became a slur), Jefferson Davis, and Robert E. Lee. More recently, former President Richard Nixon and O. J. Simpson, Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, just to name a few. Some would add Donald Trump, but I'll save his story for another day.
Giuliani had much to lose when he hitched his wagon to the Trump star. Although his mayoral power ended, he still retained a dominant presence in the city he once led. His tradesbrought him wealth. His reputation was tainted, but not in tatters. Anyway, not yet.
On Wednesday, Giuliani testified before a special grand jury investigating Team Trump's efforts to overturn President Joe Biden's victory in Fulton County, Georgia. He testified for about six hours. His attorney refused to discuss the content of his testimony, but his appearance in court in Atlanta made Giuliani one of the most high-profile Trump aides to ever testify in the election fraud investigation. became a senior member.
Giuliani told Georgia legislators in December 2020 that he had evidence of voter fraud, which state Republican election officials claimed to have proved false.His current investigation means the former federal prosecutor could be indicted. That would definitely be his lowest point. At least, so far.
