Orphan: First Kill Ending Explained: The Orphan prequel has a morbid twist

In 2009, movie viewers were introduced to a creepy girl named Esther in a horror movie.OrphanNow, 12 years later, in Orphan: First Kill, we finally learn about Esther's backstory. The prequel hits theaters and begins streaming today on Paramount+ and digitally.

If you remember the twist in the firstOrphan movie, Esther isn't actually a girl, but an adult woman who suffers from a rare disease that prevents her body from aging. . Perhaps that's why, and a little silly, actor Isabelle Fuhrman, now 25, reprized her role, with her head double layered on her tiny body.

Time is her 2007,Two years before her orphanincident, 31-year-old female Lena (Isabel) Fuhrman) is in a mental hospital. Lina has a rare hormonal disorder that prevents her body from aging, which makes her look like a little girl.

One day, Lena escapes from the hospital, murdering the doctor, security guard, and new art her therapist. She peruses a list of missing children and discovers a girl named Esther who looks like her. She tells Reena that she has deliberately positioned herself to be found by the authorities and she tells the police her name is Esther.

We learned that the real Esther has been missing for her four years. Her mother, Tricia (Julia Stiles), wants to give up on finding her and focus on the rest of her child, fencing champion Gunnar (Matthew Finlan). But her father, Allen (Rossif Sutherland), never gave up on finding her Esther. Her parents are overjoyed when the police tell them that Esther has been found. According to the official story, she was kidnapped and held prisoner in Russia until Esther was able to escape.

Although Allen is overjoyed to have her daughter back, Tricia notices that her daughter is... acting strange. she has an accent. She also doesn't seem to remember much from her past...and she's unusually good at drawing now. Meanwhile, Esther (aka Reena) notices that her strange man is watching her. A police officer who helped her family when the real Esther went missing. It is clear that the cops are on their way to Esther. He shows up at home the night his parents are away and Gunnar is throwing a party in place of his sister's babysitter. The officer gathers evidence, via fingerprints, that Esther is not who she says she is. But then Esther kills the cop in cold blood…with Tricia's help, shows up and shoots the cop in the chest.

To her surprise, Tricia knew from the start that Esther was not her daughter. As it turns out, the real Esther was accidentally killed by her brother when her brother's roughhousing went too far. Tricia was determined to help Gunnar avoid the consequences of his actions, so she helped him hide Esther's body and told the authorities that her daughter was missing. Tricia never told Allen, so he believes her daughter really went missing. I said I wouldn't let Esther leave because I've become She also knows that Esther is secretly in love with her husband. Her mother and fake daughter start playing mind games with each other.

Esther tries to kill both Tricia and Gunnar at the train station while saying goodbye to Allen, who is on a business trip. Esther was able to escape briefly, but he was caught by the police. The police call both Tricia and Allen. Everything is fine with Tricia, she insists, but Allen decides to go home to her.

Tricia has had enough, she decides. She hires Gunnar to help stage Esther's suicide. However, Esther escapes before they can kill her and she kills Gunnar with his own fencing sword.In the ensuing chaotic fight between Esther and Tricia, the house is set on fire. Esther and Tricia both hang from the roof and cling to it for their lives. Allen returns home, climbs onto the roof, and reaches out to rescue his wife and fake daughter. While Tricia yells at her husband that Esther is not who she says she is, Esther manages to grab his hand. Tricia collapses and dies.

Allen hugs Esther, but she is upset when her false teeth fall out, revealing the severely yellowed teeth of a 31-year-old woman who has never been to the dentist. He demands to know who Esther is...so Esther pushes Allen off the roof as well.

Of course, the authorities know nothing about this. All they see is a poor girl who has been kidnapped and lost her entire family in a fire. But they're sure someone would want to adopt this poor little orphan...thus setting the premise for her 2009 filmOrphan.
