Palace unveils new portrait of royal family taken before Queen’s funeral

Buckingham Palace has unveiled a new portrait of King Charles III, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The two couples posed for the snap on Sept. 18, the night before Queen Elizabeth ll’s funeral.

The portrait, which was shared by the royal family via social media Saturday night, was taken by Getty photographer Chris Jackson.

Middleton, 40, stunned in a form-fitting, long sleeve black dress, which she paired with sheer black tights and black pumps. The Princess of Wales completed her look with her hair styled in effortless curls.

Prince William, also 40, looked dapper in a classic suit, as he stood beside his father, 73, who wore an almost identical ensemble.

The King’s wife, 75, also wore black, opting for a classy dress that featured embroidered detail around the scoop neckline.

Although not pictured, a few world leaders, including President Biden, were also present at Buckingham Palace for the pre-funeral reception where the snap was taken.

Notably absent from the family photo, however, was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who reunited with the royal family after the Queen died on Sept. 8 at the age of 96.

Following her state funeral on Sept. 19, the longest reigning monarch in British history was buried at the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor Castle, next to her late husband, Prince Philip.

Harry spent 11 days in England with his wife after the Queen’s heartbreaking death. Despite putting on a united front in public, the couple’s relationship with the Duke of Sussex’s estranged family didn’t seem to improve permanently.

Most recently, Markle, 41, and Harry, 38, were officially demoted on the royal family’s website, being pushed to the bottom of the list, followed only by the disgraced Prince Andrew.

“The New Royals” author Katie Nicholl spoke to Page Six about Harry’s ongoing feud with brother William.

“I think it’s very sad,” the royal expert told us. “In the days Harry was here, there was an opportunity, given they were just a couple of hundred yards away from each other for a meeting or dinner or gathering of some sort where they could actually just try to thrash things out.”
