A female airplane passenger was horrified after waking up to see a child drawing on her sock — however many commenters claimed she deserved the toe-tagging.
Footage of the shocking incident was originally shared by UK travel blogger Julie Valentine, but it recently went viral after getting uploaded to the Instagram page “Passenger Shaming.”
“I woke up to some random kid drawing on my socks,” read the caption of the video of the in-flight foot defilement, which transpired on an undisclosed flight.
In the clip, a woman can be seen clutching her socked foot, which is emblazoned with abstract scribbles done in purple marker.
Interestingly, her tootsie tapestry didn’t elicit much sympathy from the ‘Gram commentariat. Some critics even claimed the flyer deserved her mile-high mural for propping her feet up between the seat and the wall of the cabin — a big no-no in terms of airplane etiquette.
“Your feet were in their space it became their paper,” dismissed one detractor, while another scoffed, “Only yourself to blame. If your feet are somewhere they can be ‘drawn on’ then they are in the wrong place.”
“So wait…they’re feet were up in the space of the seat in front and a kid colored on them? Hah. Good on that kid,” praised one of the de-sock-ration.
“She did the whole plane a service by giving that kid an activity,” quipped one ‘Gram jokester, referencing children throwing tantrums on planes.
Meanwhile, some armchair airplane experts felt that both parties were in the wrong: “On the one hand, please tell your kids not draw on people’s socks,” declared one. “On the other hand, please tell your adult friend to stop putting his feet in other people’s space.”
A few parties felt the flyer was in the wrong for just taking her shoes off on the plane. “Keep your shoes on you savage,” fumed another, while one wrote, “Keep your socks inside of your shoes. This is public transportation, not your personal spa day.”
Travel account @lifesatripwithsk summed up the great airplane sock debate like this:
“We are often asked about wearing socks on planes, and we are 100% okay with it…IF they are clean, don’t smell, and stay in your own space and not propped on various parts of the aircraft,” they wrote. “If you’ve ever flown first or business class you’ve probably been given a pair of socks or slippers, so it’s definitely a thing.”
They added, “Oh, and never ever ever everrrrrr go to the lavatory without wearing shoes, because the liquid on the floor is NOT WATER.”
This isn’t the first time someone has been torched for an alleged in-flight pedi crime.
