FOX 5 DC, protester Guido Reichstadter began climbing the bridge around 10 am on Friday. 

While Reichstadter was standing on the bridge, traffic stopped when authorities tried to contact him.

Reichstadter planned to stay on thebridge for as long as possible. When he reached the top of the bridge, a bottle of his water fell to the ground, leaving him without hydration.

According to a Metropolitan Police spokesperson, he was detained by police after descending the bridge arch on Saturday afternoon.
