The Boston Red Sox will face the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night. After losing against Toronto on Sunday, Boston lost five games in a row, with nine of the last ten games returning before the All-Star Break.
Socks turn to Nick Pivetta (8-7, 4.50 ERA) to stop the skid, but he has been struggling lately. Pivetta was raging on the last three starts, allowing 23 hits and 20 runs in 13¹ / ₃ innings. Indeed, these games played against the Rays and the Yankees twice. Prior to these three disastrous outings, Pivetta was pitching well, giving up less than two runs in nine of his 11 previous starts.
The Guardians will start Zach Plesac ( 2-7, 4.02 ERA). Despite scoring two wins in the season, Plesac allowed less than two runs in nine of his 14 starts and passed six innings ten times. However, Cleveland scored only 2-3 in the last five starts of Plesac, scoring a total of two goals in three defeats.
Socks are upset right now, but Boston is making money with Pivetta on the mound, winning 10 of the last 13 starts. Pivetta has pitched better than his last three outings suggest, and it's hard to downgrade a pitcher who has fought the loaded Yankees lineup this season.

Boston has been 8-2 in the last 10 games against Cleveland. I'll be back in socks to continue that trend on Monday at Fenway.
