Review: We tried the viral TikTok Wonderskin Peel & Reveal Lip Color

Wicked red and pink lips are just an application away.

The TikTok famous Wonderskin Wonder Blading Peel & Reveal Lip Color is like nothing we’ve tried before, as it provides an an all-day lip stain that’s achievable in seconds.

The pack, that comes with a Lip Masque, Lip Activator and Liquid Blading Wipe Away TowelIt claims to never transfer, fade or feather while remaining waterproof. And get this: since it’s a lip stain, you can say goodbye to lipstick-stained wine glasses and messy kisses.

To remove, all you need to do is wash off with your choice cleanser.

But does it really work? For $29, we hope it does, so Ruby McAuliffe, commerce writer and reporter for the New York Post, and Sophie Cannon, senior commerce journalist and special projects coordinator, put it to the ultimate test to find out.

Wonderskin Wonderblading Lip Stain review with Ruby McAuliffe

Let’s cut to the chase. This lip stain is it.

I applied the lip stain in thick layers, making sure to layer it on evenly, as this process is essential to the final outcome. I allowed the formula to sit on my lips for about 45 seconds while it created a tingly and tightening feeling upon my lips. Then, it was time for the peeling action.

You can use your fingers, though the lip color will stain your fingertips. Therefore, I preferred to use the included Wipe Away Towel. So, I sprayed my lips with the Lip Activator and rubbed the product off in small circles.

Once the product was off, a gorgeous deep red covered my lips. But would it transfer? That was the burning question.

First up, I kissed the back of my hand and nothing was left behind. Next, I headed out to a pasta and wine dinner. There were no lip stains left on my wine glass and my lips still possessed a deep ruby tone after eating. Then, I added some lip balm and was sure the direct application would lift away some product — yet the color didn’t budge.

To say I was impressed is an understatement. The lip stain stayed put all evening and felt beyond comfortable. I might as well not have been wearing anything! But best of all, it was kiss-proof and dinner-proof.”

First, I exfoliated my lips for the best results. Needing all the help I could get with my chapped lips, I actually used the Wonderskin brand exfoliator stick. The 3-in-1 Lip Scrub ($19) comes in an easy-to-use pencil and exfoliates, moisturizes, and then locks in that moisture to prep my lips for the main event — the lip stain.

I ordered a few different colors, but wanted to start with the shade First Kiss, which is supposed to be a bright cranberry pink. The kit ($50) came with everything I needed, including the lip color and the activator spray, as well as a black mini towel to help wipe off any excess spray and protect my chin.

After applying the bright blue-ish purple formula to my lips three times and letting it dry for about 45 seconds each time, the moment to peel and reveal came.

I also wanted to try out some other shades in the line up, including Glamorous, Divine and Adore, which is one of their lighter tints as opposed to the other bright full-color shades. However, one pro that may be a con (just for now at least) is that removing the product isn’t that easy, especially if you recently applied it. I found the best way to remove the product is by using an oil-based makeup remover, my favorite being Farmacy’s Green Clean Cleansing Balm.

Warning: You may have sensitive lips for a bit if you scrub too hard like I did.

Our final thoughts

This product is top tier.

The color is incredibly vivid and beautiful, the product is easy to apply once you get the hang of it and the formula lasts on your lips.
