Shark Watch: New York beaches increase vigilance after recent sightings, potential encounters

Precautions include patrols by boat, helicopter and drone. A 40-year-old man swimming at Jones Beach on Long Island was treated for possible shark bites and released from a local medical center, officials said.

"We look forward to the wonderful underwater summer fun," said Bruce Blakeman, executive of Nasso County. "Our beach is open, and as you can see, people are coming in to enjoy one of the finest beaches in the world."
