Stephen Colbert elated by Mar-a-Lago FBI raid, thanks librarian for helping 'down' Trump

Stephen Colbert was pleased with the news that the FBI had raided the Mar-a-Lago residence of former President Donald Trump. The Late Show with Stephen Colbertpointed out an unlikely source of research in the Tuesday (August 9) episode. In his soliloquy about the search, Colbert didn't thank the FBI agent for choosing Trump's house, but the librarian, the bookish hero who caused it all.

"It may be hot outside, but it's Christmas here," the late-night host began. "Because yesterday we got the present we wanted. FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago."

It's the most beautiful piece of writing," he added. "It's the same as 'I put cheese in the crust.'"

"I know there was a raid," Colbert told the audience. "We still don't know why the raid was done because we still don't know what the warrant was. Think about it. We're talking about the former president of the United States. The FBI raided his house." All we can think about is, ``What crimes are they investigating against him?''

"It's part of an ongoing investigation that has been started," explaining, "That's right. He's going to be overtaken by the librarian. Oh, they're coming for you, baby.

"They're organized and they know where everything is. They're so quiet you don't know which way it's coming from," he said. "They're quiet, but they're deadly."

The National Archives and Records Administration said Trump had brought a box containing government documents and communications from the White House to Mar-a-Lago. chasing after No charges have yet been filed against the former president.
