After 27 seasons, The Bachelor may have finally aired its most dramatic finale. Just not for the reasons you might think…

On Monday, March 27, Bachelor Nation turned on their TVs in hopes of watching — and HEARING — Zach Shallcross’ search for love come to an end. But instead, the sound on ABC’s broadcast cut out about an hour into the three-hour finale.

After Shallcross introduced his two remaining gals — Kaity Biggar and Gabi Elnicki — to his parents and sisters, it was time for the final round of one-on-one dates. He and Biggar went on a romantic hike in Thailand, which Bachelor Nation got to watch (AND HEAR) in full. But when it came time for Shallcross and Elnicki’s romantic horseback ride on the beach, we flipped into silent film mode. That’s right! NO SOUND!

Bachelor Nation filled the silence by joining forces to laugh, meme, and loudly vent on Twitter. Even the franchise’s favorite spoiler, Reality Steve, got in on the action.

Imagine if the rest of the broadcast has no sound either? What a finale!

When the show returned after a brief commercial break, the sound was back on ABC’s broadcast and fans were able to catch the end of Shallcross and Elnicki’s date. But Bachelor Nation will presumably have to wait until the episode streams tomorrow to learn what went down on the beginning of the date.

Later in the broadcast, host Jesse Palmer addressed the audio issue back in the studio, saying, “Apologies for the technical difficulties earlier but we are back on track now. And don’t worry cause you didn’t miss anything except for another shot of Zach in the shower. And there are plenty more of those to come.”

This live finale is pure CHAOS!
