Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (known as PFAS) Persistent compounds that appear in soil, groundwater, drinking water sources, and even rainfall and are associated with cancer, liver damage, thyroid disease, and other ailments. By some estimates, this family of toxic chemicals is found in the blood of nearly everyone on the planet.
