A two-year-old girl was attacked by a coyote in a park in Southern California on Thursday, police said. ..
The girl was attacked at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley around 8:30 pm. Fountain Valley Police Stationsaid.
The child was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries, the California Department of Fish and Wildlifetold KTLA.
The attack was not immediately reported to the authorities and the coyote was not immediately found.
According to police, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) are currently working on coyote euthanasia.
"Communities are encouraged to continue to haze coyotes and closely monitor small children and pets," police said in a press release.
