The fourth season of A Million Little Things ended with a massive cliffhanger (shocking, I know) as it was revealed that Gary’s (James Roday Rodriguez) cancer had returned. When it comes to new episodes of DJ Nash’s beloved ensemble drama, we have some good news and some bad news: The series was renewed for Season 5, but it’s not on ABC’s fall schedule. While it’s never fun waiting for new episodes, a fifth season of the series was never a foregone conclusion.
“There’s no question we were a bubble show,” Nash told TVLine at the time. “But everybody creatively at ABC was so supportive and wanted to see [a fifth season] happen. And we knew that if it didn’t happen, our fans would be like, ‘You can’t end a series like that!'”
We know that A Million Little Things will eventually return with new episodes… but when? Great question. Here’s everything you need to know.
HAS A MILLION LITTLE THINGS BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 5?
You bet. Back in May of 2022, ABC renewed the series for a fifth season.
WILL SEASON 5 OF A MILLION LITTLE THINGS BE THE FINAL SEASON?
We believe so. Back in August, TVLine reported that series creator DJ Nash is writing the upcoming fifth season as the show’s last. This hasn’t been officially confirmed by ABC, but all signs point to Season 5 being the final season.
WHEN WILL A MILLION LITTLE THINGS RETURN WITH NEW EPISODES?
Previous seasons of A Million Little Things premiered in September on ABC, with the only exception being Season 3 (which debuted in November of 2020). The fifth season, however, isn’t on the fall schedule and is expected to premiere in early 2023, with our best guess being January of the new year.
