Tropical Storm Philippe Gains Strength as it Moves Westward in the Atlantic

NHC – Tropical Storm Philippe is making its presence known in the Atlantic as it heads westward.

The latest advisory, issued at 5:00 AM AST on September 24, 2023, places Philippe at latitude 15.6 North and longitude 41.4 West, approximately 1155 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands.

With maximum sustained winds at 45 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1003 millibars, the storm is slowly strengthening.

Fortunately, there are currently no coastal watches or warnings in effect, and no immediate hazards are affecting land.

Philippe’s westward movement is expected to persist, with a potential northwestward turn in the middle of the week, prompting continued monitoring by the National Hurricane Center.
