KANGAR: Former minister Shahidan Kassim has been freed of a charge of molesting an underage girl last year, with the court giving him a discharge not amounting to an acquittal.
The Arau MP was charged under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
The former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department had strongly denied the accusation.
The girl lodged a police report on the matter but later withdrew it. Her father reportedly said the issue was amicably resolved.
