Mahogany Heights Mother Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking

Nia Clother

A Mahogany Heights resident has been convicted of drug trafficking after police discovered one hundred and seventeen grams of cannabis in her home. Reports are that on Wednesday night, police officers were conducting operations in the village when they conducted a search at the home of Nia Clother. Police say that while searching a room, they picked up a strong aroma of marijuana coming from a red plastic bag.  When the bag was opened, it contained marijuana.  The mother of an eight-month-old baby boy was taken to court this morning and arraigned before a magistrate. She was read a single charge of possession of controlled drugs, with intent to supply to another person. Clother appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate where she pleaded guilty to drug trafficking.   For her guilty plea, a non-custodial sentence was imposed on Clother. She was fined six hundred dollars, plus five dollars cost of court. The Magistrate gave her until January thirty-first, 2024 to pay.
