BELIZE CITY, Wed. Aug. 30, 2023

The Belize City Council and its Child Advisory Body have donated classroom and cleaning supplies to 31 primary schools in the Belize District as a part of their annual primary school donation.

A small handing-over ceremony was held at the Belize City Council’s Student Hub Center, with principals from the respective schools receiving the donations.

“They have been looking forward to this event each and every year. It’s a second one, and being able to assist all principals in the huge tasks they have, they have a lot of challenges. Everybody has challenges all across the city. But the main thing here is that while we may not be mandated to provide education, we can help our teachers, we can help our principals, and we can help our schools by just providing basic sanitation supplies and products,” said the Mayor of Belize City, Bernard Wagner.

“Education, especially at this private level, acts as a window through which our children can see a world full of opportunities, dreams, and aspirations. It empowers them to look beyond themselves, to explore, learn, and grow, as it is the foundation upon which their futures are built. In the spirit of turning mirrors into windows, entities such as the Belize City Council hold a very important role in supporting these architects and builders who mold children into limitless windows of opportunity and a door of opportunity for further development in Belize,” said Councilor Natasha Pipersburgh.
