Donald to join late as Tigers take a walk around Christchurch

Pace bowling coach Allan Donald could not fly to New Zealand to join the Bangladesh side in Christchurch as he was unable to manage an air ticket. The South African will join the side on October 9, BCB sources informed.

Bangladesh team are in Christchurch with technical consultant Sridharan Sriram, batting coach Jamie Siddons, spin bowling coach Rangana Herath and team director Khaled Mahmud already with the team. The Tigers will begin their first practice session on Tuesday but Donald, who had his ticket cancelled earlier due to some ticketing complications, had to manage his ticket again and will miss Bangladesh's opening encounter on October 7 against Pakistan, which is also the opening match of the tri-nation tournament involving hosts New Zealand.

"Donald will join the team on October 9," cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus told The Daily Star today. Bangladesh are scheduled to play New Zealand on October 9 in their second game.

The whole Tigers' contingent roamed around Christchurch today with the players taking a walk around Bridge of Remembrance – a war memorial dedicated to those who died in World War I.

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan is yet to travel to New Zealand having played the CPL recently but is expected to join the side in New Zealand on October 6.
