Enhance workforce efficiency to implement Delta Plan: analysts

Physical infrastructure needs to be built and the capacity and efficiency of the workforce should be enhanced to implement the Delta Plan the government has taken for economic growth and climate resilience, analysts said today.

The authorities concerned should revise and update the plans every two to five years to ensure sustainable development, they said.

They also urged the government to strengthen the capacities of ministries and departments and emphasised using modern technologies.

The analysts spoke at a seminar styled "Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100: Private Sector Involvement to achieve a Safe, Climate-Resilient and Prosperous Delta".

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) organised the event at its auditorium in Dhaka.

The participation of the private sector in the implementation of such large and long-term projects is not noticeable, said Md Jashim Uddin, president of the FBCCI.

Although the government of Bangladesh, development partners, environment and climate-related funds, public-private partnerships are considered as potential sources of public funding, there is ample scope for the private sector to work here, he said.

The Bangladesh Delta Plan (BDP) 2100 is a long-term integrated techno-economic mega plan that integrates all delta-related sector plans and policies, enveloping a Delta Vision and strategies that make it possible to integrate sector plans and policies for the long-term and to present actionable interventions with a roadmap for realisation.
