The eviction drive will continue against those who have been living in the hilly areas illegally.

The Power Development Board also has been instructed not to provide new electricity connections to the areas, he added.

The president of the hill management committee said there are illegal settlements established in thousands of acres of hilly areas in Jungle Salimpur. Many have already been removed from there.

The eviction of the rest is underway, and the authorities have decided to keep a regular vigil so that the vacant places are not re-occupied, he said.
