Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam today (October 5, 2022) said no rice can be sold in the market under the name of Miniket.
"No rice can be sold in the name of Miniket. While packaging rice in a sack, the rice variety should be written on the sack. Legal action will be taken if anyone fails to do so," he said.

The cabinet secretary said this while talking to reporters after visiting Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) in Gazipur this morning, reports our local correspondent.
The cabinet secretary visited BRRI in a bid to monitor the initiatives to deliver improved varieties of rice-- invented by agricultural scientists --to the field level quickly.
He also joined a coordination and promotion campaign with agricultural scientists, officials of Department of Agricultural Extension and Department of livestock and fisheries.
He said that if the rice varieties invented by the researchers reaches farmers quickly through coordination with different departments, the production will almost double in the next 5-6 years.
