Process involved in getting police clearance

THERE are few steps citizens must know when trying to get police clearance for employment, study, travel, firearm, driving licenses and others.

  • Pay a standard fee of K65 at Vulupindi House, Waigani or Boroko police station located at Firearm registry office to pay for the document.
  • Take the receipt to Science and Forensics Office at Gordon, lodge the application. The lodgment dates days include Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 12pm.
  • All processes, checks, fingerprints taken and a slip or docket will be issued by officers to return for collection of the certificate.n Once all manual checks are made and cleared, all documents are sent down to Police Headquarters for further vetting processes, which will take at least 10 days for collection.
  • The document is cleared and approved by the National Criminal Records officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Patamang Abieam, who is the only authorised officer to sign the certificate before all documents are taken back to Gordon office for collection.
  • Clearance certificate collection days Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1pm to 4pm at Gordon office.
