It’s again the Mid-Autumn Festival under the full moon!

On the afternoon of September 28, on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Chiping District has organized an experiencing event in Savusavu City, Fiji titled “Perception of Traditional Chinese Festivals – Making Mooncakes at the Mid-Autumn Festival”.

Nearly 10 foreign friends have participated in the event, who have personally made traditional Chinese mooncakes with five sorts of nuts – Blooming Flowers and Full Moon, to experience the traditional Chinese culture.

The staff has prepared dough, fillings and mooncake molds in advance, introduced the specific methods and essential procedures of handmade mooncakes to foreign friends, and demonstrated the whole process of making.

Pressing, stuffing, impressing… every foreign friend has done everything he can, actively participated in every process of making, and striven to make his own unique mooncakes with joy.

When seeing their successful work, they have all cheered and rejoiced. Everyone has not only mastered the skills of making mooncakes, but also learned about the history of mooncakes and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Moreover, they have spread traditional Chinese culture and customs in just a few hours of activities, so that foreign friends have a deeper interpretation of Chinese culture, too. It has also left good memories to everyone.

“Food is one of the most effective ways to get closer and increase understanding among people. The Mid-Autumn Festival represents a good time for family reunions. I was deeply touched by the cultural traditions that Chinese people attach so much importance to the family reunions. This event has not only helped me learning how to make mooncakes, but also understanding more about Chinese culture and traditions.” a foreign friend, Tina, said.
