Nadi rugby captain Ilisoni Galala was the toast of his side’s 22-20 win over Nadroga to claim the INKK Farebrother Trophy at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, this afternoon.

Galala had to put his overseas contract aside to play for Nadi and try to earn a spot with the Fijian Drua for next season’s Super Rugby season.

With Nadi trailing Nadroga 15-20, the quick thinking openside flanker took a quick tap from a penalty to squeeze past three Nadroga players to dot down the winning try with full-back Rafaele Tunidau landing the conversion from far out.

The Stallions had themselves to blame with Jack Volavola missed two kickable penalties minutes from full-time that could have given them the win. Nadi is also the defending Skipper Cup champions.

Historically, Nadi last won the Farebother Trophy from Nadroga 12-9 at Lawaqa Park was in October 1983. It was after 40 years.

Nadi hooker Maika Sivo was named the Best Player of the Match.
