Bicyclist, 72, fatally hit on West Side, police say

A 72-year-old man was hit and killed early Monday while riding a bicycle on the West Side, according to Chicago police.

The man was hit by a white sedan around 2:20 a.m. in the 1500 block of South Central Park Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood, police said. Officers stopped a vehicle that had front-end damage and matched the description of the one used in the incident.

Detectives have a person of interest who was taken in for questioning, police said.

The 72-year-old man was taken to Mt. Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
