Broncos RB Lindsay inactive, Jets WR Crowder returns

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay was inactive for the team’s game against the New York Jets on Thursday night because of a foot injury suffered in the season opener.

Lindsay had been listed as questionable Wednesday for the game, but was considered unlikely to play. The Broncos previously added LeVante Bellamy from the practice squad to join Melvin Gordon and Royce Freeman in the backfield.

The Jets have top receiver Jamison Crowder back after he missed the past two games with a hamstring injury. Jeff Smith was expected to play after being activated from injured reserve. Lawrence Cager was added from the practice squad earlier in the day and should also play.

Left tackle Mekhi Becton was also active for New York after being questionable with a shoulder injury.

Quarterback Joe Flacco was also active for the first time with the Jets after being scratched the first three games while he continued to rehabilitate from offseason neck surgery. He will serve as Sam Darnold’s backup.

Inactive for the Jets were: wide receiver Breshad Perriman, cornerback Quincy Wilson, defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd, linebacker Jordan Willis and safeties Ashtyn Davis and Marqui Christian.

Joining Lindsay on the Broncos’ list of inactives were cornerback Davontae Harris, guard Netane Muti, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu and quarterbacks QB Drew Lock and QB Blake Bortles.

Defensive lineman Timmy Jernigan, signed Wednesday by the Broncos after they placed five-time Pro Bowler Jurrell Casey on injured reserve, was active.
