Giants pick Deandre Baker in NFL draft after trading back into first round

The Giants weren’t done, yet.

GM Dave Gettleman traded with the Seahawks for the 30th pick, their third selection in the first round, and drafted Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker.

Baker finished his senior season with 40 tackles, two interceptions and 10 pass breakups, according to NFL.com. He won the Jim Thorpe Award last season as the nation’s top defensive back.

The Giants had previously drafted Duke quarterback Daniel Jones at No. 6 and Clemson defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence at 17.

Big Blue traded its second-round pick (No. 37), a fourth-round pick (No. 132) and a fifth-rounder (No. 142) to move back into the first round.
