How to Watch ‘The Comey Rule’ When it Premieres Tonight

After months of waiting, Showtime‘s James Comey series is finally here. The Comey Rule miniseries goes back to the not-so-distant past to tell the story of Comey and President Donald Trump’s relationship, borrowing from the book A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and LeadershipThe Comey Rule written by the former FBI director.

Actors Jeff Daniels and Brenda Gleeson transform for The Comey Rule, with Daniels taking on the role of Comey and Gleeson doing his best Trump impersonation. You can get a sneak peek for yourself in The Comey Rule trailer above. While the limited series was originally scheduled for a November release, Showtime announced earlier this summer that we’d be getting The Comey Rule before the 2020 election, shifting the premiere date to Sept. 27, six weeks before Election Day.

Now, we’re finally getting to see the series Showtime describes as “an immersive, behind the headlines account of the turbulent events surrounding the 2016 election and its aftermath.” Here’s everything you need to know to watch the political drama:

The Comey Rule is a two-night event. Part one of miniseries will premiere Sunday, Sept. 27. The second episode will premiere the next night, on Monday, Sept. 28.

You can catch The Comey Rule premiere Sept. 27 at 9/8c. The second installment of the miniseries will premiere Sept. 28 at 9/8c, too.

The Comey Rule is a Showtime original, so you’ll find it right there. If you’re looking to stream it on Netflix, you’re out of luck, but that doesn’t mean it won’t end up there, eventually.

To watch The Comey Rule, you’ll need access to Showtime, which means you’ll need an active subscription to the network. The good news is, if you don’t currently have a Showtime account, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial. After that, Showtime costs $10.99 per month. This Sunday, you can stream The Comey Rule live at or watch The Comey Rule on the Showtime app.

You can also access Showtime as an add-on through Hulu + Live TV, Prime Video, fuboTV, YouTube TV or Sling.
