Hilary Duff’s LA home is colorful, cheery — and most importantly, kid-friendly.
The 32-year-old “Younger” star recently gave Architectural Digest a tour of the house she purchased eight years ago and has since remodeled twice.
Duff’s home, where she lives with second husband Matthew Koma and her two kids, Banks and Luca, was designed with the help of interior designers David Ko, of Maison Ko, and Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl, of Studio Life/Style.
The actress keeps the home filled with gorgeous furniture that she doesn’t mind getting messy, like the coffee table her kids scribbled on with Sharpie and a large credenza from the ’50s that was one of her first major purchases and has now been “completely destroyed.”
“We live in this house and we’re hard on this house and I think that’s what makes it feel like such a home,” she said.
Crystals, family photos and flowers are placed around each room to set the ambiance, and her walls are decorated with works by artists such as Kate Hall, Matthew Palladino and Lindsey Adelman.
A nifty Samsung television is disguised as a giant photograph that hangs on the wall of her living room, which opens up to her blue kitchen with “crazy” black and white tiles.
But some of the best features are the ones for her kids, like a giant playroom-themed bedroom for her son Luca, where a giant slide resides along with a bunk bed and netting to climb on.
And for her downtime, Duff has a massive walk-in closet to house her shoe, bag and coat “obsession” as well as a bathroom area where she says she can “hide from my kids and lock the door.” Inside, a modern vanity is set up near her vintage-style bathtub, where she welcomed her daughter Banks via water birth in 2018.
Her backyard is where the real fun starts. A water slide for their swimming pool is “for the kids,” though Duff said, “I use it the most.”
The yard also has an in-ground trampoline, an herb garden, a “quarantine hang space” where chairs are six feet apart and a chicken coop, where Duff says she spends much of her time.
