Wear Beijing’s denunciation as a badge of honor

Congratulations to Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and US Ambassador for Religious Freedom Sam Brownback: You’ve angered the monsters in Beijing.

China’s rulers on Monday sanctioned the four pols, plus the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, in an effort at a tit-for-tat after Washington imposed penalties on several Chinese officials last week.

But the US sanctions targeted people at the center of Beijing’s assault on ethnic Uighurs — re-education camps, “population control” efforts, etc. Beijing slammed Rubio & Co. for standing up for human rights — and so “interfering” in its internal affairs.

Every member of Congress should be trying to earn the same “condemnation.”
