The NHL is about to reveal which team will make the first selection in the 2020 draft — and contestants include teams with some of the best players in the game.
The Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins are among eight teams in the drawing for the first pick and a chance to draft left wing Alexis Lafrenière, regarded as the top player available.

The winner will be revealed at 6 p.m. on the NHL Network and NBCSN.
The drawing comes a day after the only Game 5 of the qualifying round saw the Columbus Blue Jackets oust the Leafs.
A second drawing was necessitated when, during the June 26 drawing, a place-holder won the first pick. The NHL included the losers of the qualifying round in response to the 2019-20 season being cut short by the coronavirus pandemic. That ended including the Oilers, home to Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the Leafs, home to Auston Matthews, and the Penguins, home to Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
The other teams are the New York Rangers, Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Arizona Coyotes and Calgary Flames.
The Wings, who finished last in the with a 17-49-5 record, were pushed back to fourth. The draft is scheduled to take place Oct. 9-10.
