Fire at garment factory in Dhaka’s Kamalapur area brought under control

A fire broke out at a garment factory in Dhaka's Kamalapur area this morning.

The fire originated around 7:45am on the fifth floor of Olio Apparels Limited. Ten firefighting units brought it under control around 9:00am, said Ershad Hossian, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.

Fire officials said they came to know there are more than 2000 workers in the factory and the blaze started before their entry in the morning. 

Hearing the news of fire, hundreds of workers rushed in front of the factory.
