A Vicious Stabbing Over Weed Sale
Tonight, twenty-four-year-old Marlon Casey, a resident of Ladyville, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being arraigned for the attempted murder of Abraham Leslie. The incident occurred on Monday when Leslie was stabbed during an altercation involving the sale of marijuana. Casey, a construction worker of Kwale Street, reportedly purchased a quantity of weed from Leslie only to realize that the amount sold to him was less than what he paid for. In demanding a refund an argument ensued between both men. Casey reportedly walked away but was pursued by Leslie who was wielding a knife. During the struggle the knife was taken away from Leslie and was subsequently used to inflict the injury to him. This afternoon, Casey was escorted to the courtroom of Magistrate Michelle Trap where he was read three indictable offenses, including one count of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and one count of dangerous harm with a deadly instrument. He has been placed on pretrial detention until August nineteenth.
