By BBN Staff: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will be hosting “Concerts for Compassion Tour in the Americas” this Thursday, December 6,2018 at the George Price Center, Belmopan, Belize.
The event will begin at 9am and will go through to 11am.
The event will bring together children from three different schools. It will feature a workshop, in which the children will be introduced to the instruments and a concert offered by the musicians.
Concerts for Compassion is a nonprofit organization founded in 2017 by two young violinists graduates of Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York City.
They have travelled to thirty countries visiting refugee communities and playing music in hopes of creating human connections and happiness for people in some of the most difficult situations.
As displaced families from Central America have recently been increasingly affected by restrictive policies in their preferred destination countries, musicians felt compelled to visit the region to promote dialogue with and among persons “on the move”.
