Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption Commissioner Rashmi Aslam has resigned, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga confirmed yesterday.
Mr Turaga declined to reveal more details about the resignation. Fiji Sun understands that Mr Aslam flew to Singapore on August 30.
The A-G also confirmed that FICAC’s manager corporate services, Lisa Elaisa, would act in the position.
The Fiji Sun understands that staff members of FICAC were officially informed of Mr Aslam’s resignation last Friday.
Officials at the commission declined to comment when contacted last night.

Last night, a statement from the Fiji Government confirmed the same.
In a letter addressed to the Office of the President dated September 1 2023, Mr Aslam stated that “the time has arrived to embark on a new path.”
“I hold firm confidence that the Government will continue to provide unwavering support and effective leadership to guide the Commission in sustaining Fiji’s resolute fight against corruption,” Mr Aslam noted.
President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere has accepted Mr Aslam’s resignation.
On July 13, Attorney-General Turaga confirmed that the Judicial Services Commission had received a complaint against Commissioner Aslam.
Mr Turaga had said Acting Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa, had lodged the complaint, expressing a loss of confidence in Mr Aslam’s ability to carry out his duties impartially.
