Veteran Flying Fijians first-five eighth Teti Tela has taken on the challenge after he got the nod to face Wales in their Rugby World Cup opener in Bordeaux, France, on Monday.

Tela takes over from Caleb Muntz who injured his knee during training and is ruled out of the World Cup.

“Obviously it’s quite exciting,” Tela who has been the Fijian Drua’s first-choice No.10 during the past two Super Rugby Pacific seasons said. “It’s a little bit sad on our part in regards to Caleb, but I’m very excited to get an opportunity to play this first game.”

Flying Fijians head coach Simon Raiwalui has confirmed that Vilimoni Botitu has replaced Muntz and is now in camp.

On the bench against Wales are Simione Kuruvoli and Sireli Maqala who will cover for Tela.
