NTT TOYOTA BOOST FOR SOCIAL FOOTBALL

MBABANE – Even driving your Toyota needs you fit and healthy.

This is just one of the reasons Social and Recreational Games Eswatini (SARGE) is driving the health and fitness campaign for ex-soccer players and anyone who just loves the game and wants to play for fitness and health reasons. SARGE was recently formed after the social football world gained momentum last year, with more sponsored tournaments.

Social football teams Coordinator Nathi Dlamini came up with SARGE early this year to ensure the organisation of social and recreational games for all, including bus, train, tractor, and truck drivers lately. He is the interim president of SARGE. “NTT Toyota has come forward to support SARGE through social teams Football countrywide. They’ve given us E15 000 to play for. We’ll launch officially on September 22 at Helemisi in Manzini, but games will start on September 16, next weekend,” Dlamini said.

Tournament

He explained that NTT Toyota was flexible to let SARGE resume the tournament before the official launch.
“The reason is that the dealer principal will be available on that day. He agreed that we started playing as per our schedule in line with our social football games. He will conduct the last 16 draw at their Manzini branch,” Dlamini explained.

He also explained that the tournament will get underway across the country in the various corridors or zones next Saturday. Games will be played in venues like UNESWA Kwaluseni Campus, Simunye Stadium, Big Bend, Pigg’s Peak and Nhlangano to mention a few.

Qualified

“Then, on Saturday, October 7, all those who qualified for the last 16 will come to Manzini for a one-day knockout format to conclude the tournament and have the prizes distributed,” Dlamini said. He further said the champions will take home E4 300, while runners-up will walk away with E3 000. Furthermore, each team to reach the last 16 will also get E200.

“As SARGE, we’re pleased to partner with NTT Toyota, formerly known as Leites Toyota. We’d like to thank the company and others like it for having a director with foresight, in particular on the business value that sits with social footballers,” SARGE President remarked about the gesture. He also encouraged the footballers to support Toyota, who sells brands like the GD6, D4D, Hilux, and Raider, among others, while also preaching it was essential they remained fit and healthy drivers.

Man of the Match:
Njabulo ‘Magwegwe’ Magagula - The former Mbabane City skilful winger is a talent to watch going into the 2023/24 season. He was composed, used his dribbling skill well to pick his teammates with good passes and telling crosses for goal scoring opportunities. He had a good hand in the second goal  as his cross was finished well by Njabulo Tfwala. He was playing with a thigh muscle injury but still proved majestic each time he was in possession.
