A NEW local magazine has been launched this month, with the first edition for January 2019 out, and covers the Historic APEC summit held in Papua New Guinea.

It features a recollection of speeches by various APEC leaders, commitments made by major APEC countries to the host country, speeches presented by the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, city manager of the host city Bernard Kipit, Governor of NCD Powes Parkop and many others.

It also has views of prominent community and business leaders like the general manager of Hilton Hotel and managing director of National Airports Corporation and other reports as well as a recollection of Crystal Kewe, winner of 2018 APEC Digital prosperity award are covered.

Young Kristina Wemin, the publisher of the magazine told the Post-Courier yesterday that she saw that there is a need for such a local content magazine, bearing in mind that there were a lot of writers, even journalists here in PNG who could do such and engage in such trade. “This is a new monthly magazine named Development PNG aimed at reporting on PNG development with international distribution focus,” Ms Wemin said.

“Our magazine will basically report on the various current development activities occurring in PNG on a monthly basis and disseminate the information across the country, the region and internationally to the various relevant stakeholders, markets and interested parties. The unique international distribution feature creates opportunities to promote local services and products that need international markets,” she said.

“We are unique because we focus on international circulation and we will promote our country and our local business at the international level.”

In the February edition which comes out next week, Wemin said: “We will cover the agriculture and
apiculture activities occurring in the country in the February edition.”
