McDonalds Brunei presented ten lucky winners with Brunei Run 2020 packages last Friday afternoon at its Gadong branch.

The winners were chosen out of more than 300 quiz entries organised by the fast-food establishment through their Instagram page which started on November 19 and ran for a week.

The packages include free participation in the race and Brunei Run 2020 merchandise.

Speaking to the media, McDonald Brunei’s Marketing Manager Filah Salleh said the quiz was organised to further encourage locals to practice a healthy lifestyle.

“This is our way of making an impact to the community through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, in partnership with Akif Media, Marketing and Events.”

The winners are given the opportunity to participate in either two categories: 10km or 5km.

Among the recipients was Nurul Ummi Haziemah who was excited to win the competition.

“I decided to enter because I actually want to challenge myself to participate in activities that promote a healthier lifestyle.”

“I didn’t expect to win but I’m very happy I did. I chose to take part in the 10km competitive run category to challenge myself even further,” she added.

The 20-year old student hopes it would also encourage her friends and family members to participate in the run and other physical activities.

“With the rising number of people diagnosed with non-communicable diseases and such, I believe we should all take some time out of our day just to exercise and participate in healthy activities.”

The run is slated to take place on January 5, next year and is organised to support the United Nations International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

Open to participants of all fitness levels, the run will begin from Taman Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital and loop around the iconic Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge.
